TRINITY YEOMEN |
The first cadets to be trained under the Trinity House Cadet Scholarship Scheme joined in the summer of 1989. The current maturity of the scheme has prompted the Elder Bretheren to propose the establishment of a tangible link between the ex Scholarship Cadet Fratenity and the Bretheren of the House. It is clear that a non-tangible bond already exists and that this can be developed, through the Yeoman scheme, to the mutual benefit of both the ex-cadet and the House. The Court of Trinity House has decided that all Scholarship Cadets will,
upon obtaining their first professional Certificate of Competency as a
Deck or Engineer Officer, be entitled to bear the title of Trinity Yeoman
and will receive a certificate to that effect from the Corporation. Yeomen will be seen within the Fraternity of Trinity House as being embryonic Younger Bretheren assuming that the person concerned is interested in graduating into the exclusive Trinity House Fraternity of 300 Younger Brothers, all of whom are senior Merchant Navy or Royal Navy officers with significant industry or naval experience.
