TH Cadet receives British Shipping award

Monday 22nd November saw the annual British Shipping Safety Awareness Awards take place at a ceremony held at the Chamber of Shipping.

Entries from all over the country from Trainee Officers and Trainee Ratings studying Merchant Navy Training Board approved courses where invited to enter and the top three awards given to cadets who suggested the best idea to improve health and safety at sea. The idea where to be original, innovative and capable of implementation.

Represenatives from Trinity House and Chiltern Maritime were very proud to hear that a Trinity House Cadet had been awarded 3rd Prize.

Simon Curtis, an engineer who is enrolled on the graduate programme at Warsash Maritime Academy suggested a special fire-fighting nozzel that could deliver both high expansion foam and water mist. For his efforts Simon won a cash prize of £500 and £400 for his college.
